Top 3 best laptops under $300

By

There’s no point in pretending that you are going to get one of the absolute top of the range laptops for under $300 - but there are many reasons why you might want to opt for a laptop from this price range. You might, for instance, want a less expensive laptop to use as a second computer either for yourself or the family, or as a laptop for a child or teenager when there is a higher risk of breakage, or because the technology advances so quickly that you don’t believe that it’s worth paying out lots of money for an expensive one which may well be archaic in a few years anyway, or maybe it’s just simply because your budget constraints dictate what you can afford.

Whatever the reason you decide to buy a laptop for under $300, it is worth looking into what your options are. I have therefore put together a list of what I believe to be the top 3 best laptops under $300 that are available at the moment. I hope that you enjoy reading through my selections and find them to be useful.

Intel Pentium M processor for quicker and cooler processing!

The Dell Latitude range is generally a great source for those seeking great laptops and the D810 is a good investment for those buyers who want a quality laptop that performs all the essentials without spending too much. This laptop has a Pentium M processor giving it quicker and cooler processing speeds than you would expect to get with a standard Pentium 4 chip. The D810 is also equipped with a 15.4" LCD display screen and excellent battery runtime, thanks to the 80-Wh battery.

Sleek design and a widescreen display!

One way to get a great laptop for under $300 is to buy a refurbished one. The 6910P from HP can sell for around $450 new, but you can pick up a refurbished version for around $250 on Amazon. That makes it a very affordable laptop. It has an attractive, sleek design and you can watch movies in widescreen on the 14 inch display. The specifications are excellent for a laptop in this price range with 1GB of RAM (upgradable to 4GB) and 80GB of hard drive space. The processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo 2000 MHz.

Large display screen and huge hard drive space!

Another option, if you want a good laptop at a low price, is to buy a used laptop from Amazon. The Toshiba Satellite range is excellent and the L455D-S5976 model, which normally sells at around $450 new can be picked up for as little as $250 in a used state from Amazon. The biggest selling point of the Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 is without doubt its TruBrite HD 15.4 inch display, which is large enough to to allow multitasking and gives you the ability to see movies, photos and games in detail too. It has 250 GB of hard drive space, 2GB RAM, and the processor is an AMD Sempron SI-42.

Good article. I have previously owned the S5976; it's not durable, but it runs regardless of what you do with it or to it. When I got a new laptop last March, I gave my S5976 to my mom (it was already more than a year old at the time, and I had to replace the screen because I dropped the laptop on brick in an unfortunate ice incident). She still uses it to this day.

Now, there is one gripe I had, and that's with the D810. It's running XP and probably has no capacity for hardware upgrades. Trying to run updates on it is going to kill it. Your best best is to yank out the operating system and run a Linux based operating system. For $299, it's an ideal Linux machine.
