Empire State Building Pictures
76I must confess that I don’t always do the tourist thing when I visit somewhere. Partly because I do not like to just follow the crowd and partly because I cannot be bothered with all the crowds and expense that is often involved. So when I visited New York City, I might never have visited the Empire State Building in Manhattan, if I had been on my own or just with other adults and we had not had our eleven year old daughter with us. Our daughter was desperate to see the Empire State Building, of course, and travel up to the top (what kid is not?!?!). The experience for all of us, including myself, was fabulous however and well worth the (long) wait and expense that was involved. I hope you enjoy viewing my Empire State Building pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.
Some Empire State Building Facts
The location of the Empire State Building is at 350 Fifth Avenue, NYC. It was designed by the architects: Shreve, Lamb & Harmon Associates and built by Starrett Bros. & Eken. The Empire State Building took one year and 45 days to complete and was finished ahead of schedule in 1931. It cost $40,948,900 to build in total (if you include the price of the property it sits on) and was less expensive than originally planned because of the onset of the Great Depression. The Empire State Building has 102 floors, 1,860 steps and 6,500 windows. At the time of writing, visitor tickets cost $20.21 for an adult, $14.70 for a child, and $18.37 for a senior (check the official site for full details. I would get there early as the queues can get pretty enormous!
A Word of Warning!
One thing that we didn't fully appreciate, although it seems obvious with hindsight, is that the temperature is considerably colder up on the Empire State Building viewing platform than it is at ground level! So I would advise that you take a warm coat and hat and maybe a scarf too, even if the weather seems relatively mild!

Can you believe I was born and raise in NY and never went to the Empire State Building. Too many stairs, or is that the Statue of Liberty?
Empire State Building is amazing. You get a gorgeous view when you get up there.
Looks like it is really worth the time and effort. Thanks for sharing these cool photos.
