Best Cheap Coffee Grinders: Top 5
Grinding your own coffee beans, rather than getting ready ground, is the best way to get a fresh, flavorsome and tasty brew and buying a basic grinder doesn’t have to bankrupt you. There are some very good cheap coffee grinders on the market nowadays which are stylish in appearance and do the job effectively.
The best cheap coffee grinders are mainly blade grinders. Burr grinders are generally quieter, more accurate and less messy, but they are more expensive. (See my article on Blade grinders vs Burr grinders for more info on the different types of grinder).
In putting together my top 5 list of the best cheap coffee grinders, I have tried to give a range of products that will suit a variety of tastes and needs. If you asked me to pick one product out of the list that I could particularly recommend, I would say that for me personally, the Krups grinder is the best cheap coffee grinder.
Compact and easy to clean!
A compact and easy to clean coffee grinder, the Proctor Silex E160B has a retractable cord that winds up inside it, making it even easier to store. The stylish European design makes it attractive too. There is no need for a more expensive grinder when this cheap grinder’s stainless steel blades will do the job well enough for you!
Best of the five!
This coffee grinder will meet all your freshly ground coffee needs and comes out top in my list of the 5 best cheap coffee grinders, in my opinion, especially if you are after a fine grind. Tip: the Krups coffee grinder is relatively quiet, but you can muffle the sound further by placing the grinder on a towel when you grind!
A beautifully designed and easy to clean manual grinder!
The Kyocera Ceramic grinder is well designed on every level, from its attractiveness through to its functionality. It is easy to use, easy to clean, and compact. As you don’t need an electric supply, you can use it anywhere, including outdoors if you go camping. One of the other great advantages of a manual grinder is that it is easy to determine the size of the grinds.
An amazing value burr grinder!
This automatic burr grinder from Mr. Coffee is fantastic value and it is rare to find a burr grinder that is so inexpensive. There are 18 different custom grind settings, meaning that you can get the ground size that suits your maker, and its removable bean hopper holds up to ½ pound of coffee beans.
Affordable and with push-button pulse control!
Affordable and convenient, with cord storage and stainless steel blades, the Toastmaster 1119 grinder is a great buy. The push-button pulse control gives you precise grinding results and lets you pick the fineness or coarseness that you want. Its 2 oz. capacity allows you to grind enough beans for up to eight cups of coffee.

@femmeflashpoint - the Kyocera is a very nice grinder if you like manuals. The design is great and cleaning it is easy!
My family had an old one, wooden with an iron grinder on the top and a little drawer to catch the grounds towards the bottom. No idea where it is now. I saw one a few years ago in a shop, a new one made to look old, lol. Wish I'd picked it up because I haven't seen any like it since.

Paul - very good information here for coffee lovers and wanna-be-bean-grinders. :)
I'm preferring the Kyocera Ceramic. It's more pricey but less messy. The grinders that don't dump the processed coffee to the bottom leave me with a mess that I have to clean up.
